What happens after the oil tank is removed from the ground?

The soil surrounding the tank will be tested for possible oil release. If such contamination is present in the soil or groundwater, a report must be made to the state’s Department of Environmental Protection. The site will need to be cleaned and certified as a clean removal. After this, the excavation site is ready for clean fill, which is a mixture of dirt, gravel and soil.
